Childcare Worker for Our Staffing Pool

Are you a flexible childcare worker who enjoys working in different environments and spreading joy among children? We are now looking for an engaged colleague for our staffing pool where you will have the chance to support several of our wonderful facilities in the area.

Your Responsibilities

As a childcare worker, you will work together with the team to ensure that the preschool's activities stimulate development and curiosity in children.

The team plans the activities and teaching based on the curriculum, in which you, as a childcare worker, are involved. You then carry out the teaching in the child group so that care, development, and learning form a whole. You adapt the activities based on the children's interests, experiences, and needs. In your work, you draw from both routines and the spontaneous learning that occurs, incorporating it into the teaching. Your role also includes ongoing conversations with guardians about the child's well-being, development, and learning, as well as conducting development talks.

As a childcare worker, you contribute to fulfilling the preschool's mission. You have knowledge of current governing documents, such as the curriculum, and work according to the norms and values included in the preschool's curriculum.

Your base placement is at the preschool Öjebyvägen in Örtomta. As a childcare worker in the staffing pool, you need to be available to work during the preschool's entire opening hours, which means your shifts can vary between 06:00 and 18:30 (you will always work according to regular full-time hours, not the entire time span at once).

If coverage is needed at other preschools, you will be informed about your placement as early as possible. When you replace a colleague due to, for example, illness, you will take over the schedule for that specific preschool and shift. Therefore, the role requires flexibility and security, as well as enjoyment of variation and rapid changes. This is a position for someone who enjoys meeting new people and challenges.

Your Workplace

The preschool area Åkerbo 2 consists of five preschools led by one principal and two assistant principals. We are a geographically spread area with preschools in Gistad, Örtomta, Askeby, Bankekind, and Linghem. The preschools vary in size, with between 23 and 75 children at the different facilities. We plan together, and the area's assistant principals are present in the operations once a week to provide support where needed.

Our education and teaching are based on the Preschool Curriculum and are specified in our development plan. In the area, we work according to our core values:

The area works towards a result goal. This year, the result goal is to increase each child's understanding of written language. Based on this goal, each child should have the opportunity to encounter literacy-rich environments with aware adults and participate in more activities that involve reading and writing. All children in our preschools should experience a preschool environment that is fun, safe, and educational. We have, among other things, large playgrounds that invite both play and learning.

Who You Are

It is a requirement that you have a childcare worker education from adult education or have completed the Child and Leisure Program in high school. It is also a requirement that you have experience working with children in curriculum-driven activities as an employee, through internships, or voluntarily.

Furthermore, it is a requirement that you have good communication skills in spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out work in accordance with the curriculum (Lpfö18) so that the child receives support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each child can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

In your role as a childcare worker, you create good relationships and collaborate well with children, colleagues, guardians, and other contacts that occur in your professional role. You have a good understanding of people's differences and relate to them in a responsive manner in teaching and the everyday life of the preschool. You lead the work with children through motivation, engagement, and participation. The role also involves working with your colleagues on applicable goals and quality standards for the preschool.

To be considered for the position, you need to be able to work during the preschool's opening hours. Since the role is a pool position where you may need to change workplaces between the area's different preschools at short notice, it is a requirement that you have a B driver's license and access to a car. This is because not all preschools can be reached by public transport, and you need to be able to move between units smoothly.
